Project Description:

The proposed development is approx. 4.2km in overall length and includes the following:

  • Segregated footpaths and one way cycle facilities on both sides of the N60 and R373 within the 60km/h zone;
  • Shared pedestrian/cycle facilities corridor on one side of the N60 within the 80 km/h zone;
  • Provision of periodic 60km/h zone at school drop-off and pick-up times at Breaffy village;
  • Elimination of hard shoulder parking at Breaffy village; and
  • Provision of a new pedestrian crossing and two bus bays at Breaffy village.

Compulsory Purchase Order

Mayo County Council 2024 (No.1)

Following approval of the proposed development Mayo County Council have on the 17th May 2024 made a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to acquire the land for the project.

The Council published the CPO for the N60 Breaffy Active travel and Safety Measures Scheme in the Connaught Telegraph edition of the 28th May 2024. The period of public consultation is from Wednesday the 29th May 2024 to Friday the 26th July 2024.
