A qualified accountant and a holder of an MBA in Local Government from DCU, Tom has a vast level of experience in the local authority sector. Prior to joining Mayo County Council Tom was Head of Finance and ICT for Limerick City and County Council, Head of Finance, Community, Tourism and Economic Development for Waterford County Council and Financial Management Accountant for Leitrim County Council. He also worked as a Financial Accountant for the National Roads Authority and a Financial Controller for Cavanagh Foundry Ltd. He has been Director of Services in Mayo County Council since 2015. Founder of VacantHomes.ie, a national housing initiative developed to get empty/derelict homes back into use, Tom is a music lover and author.
