Pride of Place

IPB Pride of Place is a unique opportunity for community groups to be officially recognised on an all-island basis for the valuable work undertaken in their local areas. Entry is by way of county, city, borough or district council nomination only.

Past entrants in Pride of Place have included groups involved in a wide variety of activities across the social spectrum. The common thread is the impact and difference made in peoples’ lives.

Mayo County Council is inviting local communities as well as project and housing estate committees to build on the county’s strong track record of success in the IPB Pride of Place Competition by putting their name forward to take part in 2023.

Mayo has enjoyed considerable success in the all-island competition during recent years with overall wins for Belcarra Community Group and Ballina Lions Club in 2020, Ballina Community Clean Up in 2021 and Achill Community Tourism achieving Runner-Up in their category in 2022.

The annual awards programme, which is run by Co-Operation Ireland in conjunction with local authorities North and South, aims to recognise and celebrate the vital contributions that communities make to society along with generating awareness, respect, and inclusion for every facet of society.

Mayo County Council is inviting expressions of interest from local communities, projects or housing estates who wish to seek nomination to the IPB Pride of Place 2023.
