Youth Theatre – Workshop Opportunities

Date: 11-05-2022

Mayo County Council Arts Service in partnership with Youth Theatre Ireland www.youththeatre.ie will run two events aimed at the youth theatre sector in Mayo.  We are hosting an online session on May 23rd and an in-person event on May 30th in Castlebar.  Those interested can attend one or both events, however we would encourage you to attend both events.

Established in 1999, MYT sought to promote, develop and support high quality youth theatre in the county, with an emphasis on personal and social development in tandem with the attainment of artistic excellence.

Mayo County Council Arts Service recognises the importance and power of Youth Theatre and what it brings to the lives of young people.

The youth theatre is at a critical stage in its development in the county and we are taking several steps to address this change.  The workshops being provided here are a first phase in determining the future of youth theatre in Mayo.

Who might attend the events?

  • People working in services such as youthwork, training, education, library service
  • Drama or stage schoolteachers, theatre practitioner/artist, performing arts graduate, former youth theatre member, amateur drama member

This is by no means an exhaustive list!
