Climate Information Evenings
Date: 20-11-2023
Mayo County Council’s series of climate action evenings takes a creative turn as the Wilderland Project Team prepares to host an engaging Information Evening on Wednesday, November 22nd, at 6:30 pm at Lough Lannagh Leisure Centre.
The Wilderland Project, a two-year public art and climate action initiative, aims to integrate research and art into the landscape, fostering community engagement and dialogue. Castlebar Town has been chosen as one of the communities to participate in this groundbreaking project, and Mayo County Council invites local community groups to come along and learn more about the initiative.
Participating community groups will collaborate with renowned artists specialising in environmental awareness and socially-engaged practices. Together, they will embark on a journey to create a public space that encourages open discussion about biodiversity and the climate crisis while exploring the unique lived experiences of the community.
In addition to this exciting event, John Magee, Head of Enterprise at LEO Mayo, will host an Information Evening on Thursday, November 23rd, at 7:30 pm at Lough Lannagh Leisure Centre. The focus will be on how micro and small businesses can actively contribute to climate action. The evening will highlight business opportunities aligned with climate action and outline the support mechanisms provided by LEO to facilitate a green transformation.
These events mark a significant step toward building a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community. Mayo County Council encourages all interested community groups and local businesses to participate in these informative evenings, contributing to a collective effort for a greener future.
