Expression of Interest - Appointment of Chairperson to the new Local Community Safety Partnership for County Mayo

Mayo County Council invites expressions of interest for consideration for appointment as Chairperson of a new Local Community Safety Partnership which is being established in each Local Authority area in line with the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.

The post is on a voluntary basis and ideally the selected person will commit for a 3-year term. 

The Closing date for receipt of Expressions of Interest is Wednesday the 31st July 2024 at 5pm.

The LCSPs, which will replace the Joint Policing Committee’s, have been piloted in Waterford, Longford and Dublin’s North Inner City, and will bring together a range of service providers and the community, to examine and deliver on actions that will improve community safety in their localities.

The role of the Chairperson will be to lead the work of the Local Community Safety Partnership and find consensus among the members so that a tailored local community safety plan can be developed. They will also be responsible for driving forward the implementation of the community safety plan so that it delivers tangible benefits in the community.

The Expression of Interest process will be undertaken by Mayo County Council to identify a suitable Chairperson. The Chairperson will be responsible for the leadership of the LCSP and ensuring its effectiveness on all aspects of its role.
