Dominick Healy Appointed As Project Manager Of SDZ At Ireland West Airport

The Steering Committee of the Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) at Ireland West Airport (IWA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dominick Healy as the new Project Manager of the IWA SDZ.

This appointment follows the Government decision to allocate funds to Mayo County Council to employ a dedicated Project Manager to accelerate the development of the SDZ at IWA as a key economic driver for the western Region.

Mr. Healy will take up the role on August 22nd 2024 and joins Mayo County Council with extensive experience as a Civil Engineer in the construction industry having worked for more than fifteen years in both the private and public sectors.

He brings experience of client-side delivery on several large capital public projects as Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Director, including most recently as Director of Construction & Infrastructure with the Grangegorman Development Agency on the mixed-use Grangegorman Strategic Development Zone project.

Dominick also has extensive experience of Local Authority management, operations and infrastructure delivery having worked with Clare, Fingal and Roscommon County Councils.

His first priority will be to prepare a roadmap and programme for the development of the SDZ working with the multi-agency Steering Committee established by Government. 

Announcing Mr. Healy’s appointment, Kevin Kelly Chief Executive of Mayo County Council and Chair of the Steering Committee said: “I am delighted to make this announcement and to welcome Dominick Healy to our team. This is an important appointment, and his leadership and experience will play a vital role in charting the vision and future for the SDZ at IWA”. 

Welcoming the appointment of Mr Healy, Minister of State with responsibility for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary TD underlined the significance of Mr. Healy’s appointment and the decision of Government to support the SDZ at IWA from a national perspective saying: “The vision for Ireland West Airport is that of a dynamic regional airport and business campus that will become an economic gateway to the West and North-West. The appointment of a Project Manager is a major step forward for the airport and presents an opportunity to drive investment and employment at a key strategic location in the region; this will help to deliver on a key Government priority in terms of more balanced and sustainable regional development.  I wish Dominick every success in his new role.”

Dominick holds a BE in Civil Engineering from the University of Galway, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Technological University Dublin, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from Trinity College Dublin.
