Mayo Day Heads To Ballina For 2023
Date: 17-02-2023
Mayo Day will be returning this April to celebrate all things Mayo, with the flagship event heading to north Mayo for the first time and Ballina is the place to be on Saturday, April 29th.
With Ballina celebrating its 300th Birthday this year – Ballina 2023 is a year-long celebration of the town, its history and heritage and taking centre stage as part of these celebrations is the Mayo Day flagship event, which will take over the town for the day.
Returning for the 9th year on its dedicated day, on the Saturday of the May bank holiday weekend, the multifaceted flagship event will see Ballina represent all parts of Mayo, showcasing our artists and photographers through exhibitions and workshops, the finest Mayo food and craft offerings, engaging and fun workshops and activities for all the family, a dedicated history and heritage quarter and that’s before we even start on the headline acts that will take over the main stage.
Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Seamus Weir welcomed the plans for the event saying: “Mayo Day is a celebration of all the things that make this county great and it is going to be another brilliant event this year.
“With Ballina celebrating Ballina 2023 this year, it is great that the flagship event for Mayo Day will be pitching up the town and bring all the life and colour that we have seen from previous Mayo Day’s to the banks of the Moy .
“By exhibiting the best in art, craft, design, food, music, sport, and more, this premier festival event is a suitable way to commemorate our accomplishments and successes as a county.
“I'd like to extend an invitation to everyone in the county, the country, and farther afield to join us in Ballina for Mayo Day 2023, which promises to be a fantastic occasion.”
