Mayor Of Oak Forest, Illinois Declares Next Saturday Mayo Day In Oak Forest

The Mayor of the City of Oak Forest, Illinois Henry L. Kuspa has issued a proclamation recognising this Saturday, May 4th as Mayo Day in the City of Oak Forest.

Mayo Day will celebrate its tenth birthday this coming Saturday with flagship events at home in Belmullet and in Chicago Gaelic Park, which is located in the City of Oak Forest.

In his proclamation Mayor Kuspa said: “Mayo Day is an opportunity to catch up with old friends, forge new relationships, show Mayo pride, and enjoy music, arts, crafts, food, and family fun The lineup for Mayo Day at Chicago Gaelic Park will offer some of the best Irish and Irish American entertainment around; and Chicago Gaelic Park looks forward to welcoming the Mayo diaspora to Oak Forest on May 4.”

Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Michael Loftus was delighted to receive Mayor Kuspa’s proclamation.  “As Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, I’m thrilled to see this coming Saturday being proclaimed as Mayo Day in the City of Oak Forest.

“I wish to thank Mayor Kuspa and the people of Oak Forest for this great honour on behalf of the people of Mayo. Mayo Day is celebrating it’s tenth birthday this year and along with the flagship event at home in Belmullet, it fantastic that we are also going to be hosting our international flagship event in Chicago Gaelic Park and I look forward to meeting Mayor Kuspa over the weekend.”

Mags Connell, Administrative Officer, Mayo County Council added: “Mayo Day has been such a huge success since the very first Mayo Day ten years ago, and a decade on we are thrilled to be able to bring Mayo Day to the international stage.

“Our Mayo Day event in Chicago Gaelic Park will be one big celebration of everything that is great about Mayo and we have been working hard for months putting together a day that will not be forgotten.

“To receive the proclamation from Mayor Kuspa, has given the whole event another major boost and we can’t wait to see everyone in Chicago Gaelic Park this Saturday for Mayo Day.”
