Poetry Day Ireland 2021

Tune into the Tommy Marren Show on MidWest Radio (96.1fm) at 9.15am on Thursday April 29th for Mayo County Council Arts Service’s celebration of Poetry Day Ireland 2021 with poets Geraldine Mitchell, Terry Mc Donagh and Anne Walsh Donnelly who will read some of their poetry on the show.  The theme of Poetry Day Ireland 2021 is New Directions: Maps and Journeys. Contact mayoarts@mayococo.ie or call 094 9064666 for further information. 

Geraldine Mitchell was born in Dublin. Since 2000 she has lived in Killadoon, a short distance west of Louisburgh. Her fourth collection of poems is Mute/Unmute (Arlen House 2020). Geraldine won the Patrick Kavanagh Award for her first collection, World Without Maps, published in 2011.   

Terry McDonagh, is a poet and dramatist.  Terry taught creative writing at Hamburg University and takes part in literary events worldwide. He’s published eleven poetry collections.  

Anne Walsh Donnelly lives in Castlebar. She is the author of the poetry chapbook, “The Woman With An Owl Tattoo.”  It was awarded second prize in the International Poetry Book Awards in 2020. Her new poetry collection, “Odd as F*ck,” will be published in May 2021.
