Poetry Day Ireland 2022

Edel Burke lives in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.  She is the recipient of the Words Ireland/Mayo County Council National Mentorship programme, 2021; winner of Dromineer Poetry Competition 2017, and highly commended in the iYeats Poetry Competition 2017.  She was longlisted for the Aryamati Pamphlet Prize 2021 as well as many national competitions.  Edel has been published in a number of journals including Crannóg, Banshee Literary Journal, Boyne Berries, the Cormorant Broadsheet and Book, Drawn to the Light Press.  Edel is working towards a first collection of poetry.

Nithy Kasa is an Ireland-based poet of Congolese origin.  Her poems have been published in Poetry Ireland Review, Trumpet Magazine, SAH Journal, Flare, A New Ulster, Dedalus Press’s Writing Home: The New Irish Poets and the commemorative anthology from The Ireland Chair of Poetry Hold Open the Door by UCD Press.  She received the Poetry Ireland commissions 2020, with the support of an Arts Council of Ireland Commission Award, and was short listed for The Eavan Boland Emerging Poet Award 2021.  Nithy's debut collection of poetry is due to be published by Doire Press in May 2022.
