Pride of Place 2024

Mayo County Council invite expressions of interest from local community groups who wish to be nominated to the 2024 IPB Pride of Place Competition in association with Co-operation Ireland.
This annual all-island competition is run in conjunction with local authorities (North and South) and aims to recognise improvements made by local communities to create civic pride in their area. The Pride of Place Competition celebrates the efforts and endeavours of communities throughout Ireland, to make their place the best place to live. The competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve the daily lives of people in their communities..
Mayo has enjoyed considerable success in the all-island competition during recent years with first place for Belcarra Community Group and Ballina Lions Club in 2020, first place for Ballina Community Clean Up in 2021 and Achill Community Tourism achieving Runner-Up in their category in 2022. The Butterfly Garden in Swinford received a Special Award in 2023
There are thirteen categories this year under which communities can enter. They include:

Based on expressions of interest received, Mayo County Council will shortlist and nominate groups for Pride of Place 2024.
Groups interested in being considered for nomination are asked to apply detailing their preferred Category with a one-page typed summary (no more than 160 words) setting out their proposal to:

Summary should include:
- A short description of location.
- Details of the area represented, or group represented.
- A short history and details of current activities.
- Maximum 160 words and should be written as a paragraph in the third person.
- No Lists, no personalities (named personages), no unexplained acronyms should be included.
One photograph: image to be reproduced at any size print ready should be supplied at a minimum 1748px x 1240px
The Expressions of Interest will be assessed, based on the Co-Operation Ireland criteria available at www.prideofplace.ie.
Closing date for receipt of expression of interest has been extended to 4 p.m. 3rd May, 2023
