Road Safety Show Streamed Into Schools Around The County

Date: 14-04-2021

An emotive, interactive presentation produced and delivered by Mayo County Council’s Road Safety Office in the Communications Department in conjunction with the emergency services and AXA Insurance is being streamed directly into young road users around the Country.

The AXA Roadsafety roadshow is a presentation (90 minutes long) aimed at students in transition year or above. It is an emotive interactive presentation produced by emergency service personnel working with the Communications Department of Mayo County Council. The aim of the presentation is to highlight the consequences of a collision, not only to a driver, but also to innocent victims such as pedestrians, passengers and other road users. Incorporating a graphic presentation depicting the aftermath of a real crash, emergency service personnel appear in person to describe their roles following a serious collision.

The event is now being run virtually as face-to-face delivery in a venue has been impacted by COVID-19. The event coordinated by the Communications Department of Mayo County Council is being availed of by Local authorities across the Country .

We strongly believe that intervention and education at an early stage are the most effective ways of changing attitudes and ultimately reducing the chances of young adults being involved in a fatal or serious injury collision in the future, something which I am very passionate about.
