Mayo County Council is the Building Control Authority for the County. Our work relates to the enforcement of the Building Control Acts 1990 to 2014, and the regulations made under those Acts. This includes processing Fire Safety Certificate and Disability Access Certificate Applications, the validation of Commencement Notices and Certificates of Compliance on Completion for developments.

We have discretionary powers to carry out inspections of buildings in order to check for compliance with Building Regulations. We also have the right to request information relating to works to which the Building Regulations apply and have the power of enforcement and/or prosecution in relation to non-compliance with the Building Regulations.
