Physical Activity for Health Symposium 2024
The Physical Activity for Health Officer (PAfHO) Initiative event on November 13th, 2024, was a resounding success, reflecting the ongoing dedication and innovation in promoting health through physical activity. Hosted at the Sport Ireland Campus, the event brought together professionals from diverse backgrounds to showcase inspiring projects, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaborative efforts.
The agenda was packed with insightful presentations, particularly during the session featuring oral presentations by PAfHOs. Among these, Edel O’Malley from Mayo Local Sports Partnership (LSP) stood out for her impactful work on the Mayo Better Balance Pilot, an early intervention initiative aimed at preventing falls and frailty in older adults. Her commitment to fostering community-based solutions was evident and deserves warm congratulations. Edel also contributed significantly to the poster presentations, further showcasing the reach and potential of her project in improving health outcomes.

Sessions on qualifications for exercise professionals and service specifications further reinforced the critical integration of structured frameworks in healthcare pathways.
