Mayo Sports Partnership 2023  Annual Report

  • 17,454 People Benefitted from 155 Mayo Sports Partnership Programmes
  • €967,598 invested in sport development across the county
  • 3,615 participated in 19 Women in Sport initiatives
  • 1,145 People with a Disability engaged in the Sports Inclusion Programme

17,454 people participating in some 155 Mayo Sports Partnership programmes and 7 intervention initiatives was one of the standout statistics in the organisations recently published 2023 Mayo Sports Partnership Annual Report. Overall investment, monetary and in kind, through the Partnership was €967,598 which reached practically every corner of the county through participation initiatives or small grants.

Mayo Sports Partnership has continued to help people get active and reap the benefits of being active by removing barriers to participation in sport and physical activity. The 2023 Mayo Sports Partnership Annual Report highlights the innovative, inclusive and progressive programmes and initiatives MSP has delivered to ensure that everyone in our society has the opportunity to be physically active.

Launching the report 2023 Mayo Sports Partnership Chairman Cllr Michael Loftus paid tribute to the many stakeholders., partners and volunteers who all contributed to this extensive delivery “ We are lucky here in Mayo that we have such fantastic collaboration in developing physical activity opportunities for all sections of our society

While I have completed my term as Chair with Mayo Sports Partnership, following the local elections in June, I cant but be delighted with the impact the Sports Partnership has made to peoples quality of lives across our wonderful county. I wish incoming Chair Lyndon Jones every success during the next 5 years” Loftus added.

The report, describing the workings of the Sports Partnership during 2023, highlighted the involvement of 1145 people with a disability and 3,615 women in programmes, a significant increase from 2022 levels.

Other highlights from the report included that Mayo Sports Partnership and its stakeholders provided 30 training & education workshops for 1,944 volunteers including Safeguarding training to 345 through 22 courses.

Funding support of €121,105 to 140 clubs through the Return to Sport small grant & Energy Support schemes was also provided with 24,141 people given general or specific sport-related information through MSP online, social media or text promotion.

Cllr Loftus also thanked key stakeholders CEO Una May and staff in Sport Ireland, CE Mayo County Council Kevin Kelly, Director of Services Joanne Grehan, Head of Community and Integrated Development Deirdre Finnerty, fellow Mayo Sports Partnership committee members and many other partners who contribute to the continued development of the umbrella sports body.
