Celebrating the Success of Sports Ability Week 2024 and Launching the Sports Inclusion Summer Calendar
Mayo Sports Partnership is delighted to announce the tremendous success of Sports Ability Week 2024. Hosting 27 inclusive events and engaging over 350 participants, this week-long celebration showcased the best of inclusive sports and physical activities across County Mayo.
From 24th to 30th June, participants of all abilities enjoyed a wide range of activities, from walking and kayaking to football and cycling. Highlights included the first-ever Inclusive GAA Cúl Camps for children with additional needs and a vibrant Family Fun Sports Day with Mayo Autism Camp in Manulla.
These events highlighted abilities over disabilities, fostering a supportive and active community environment. Charlie Lambert, Head of Mayo Sports Partnership, expressed his gratitude: “The success of Sports Ability Week 2024 is a testament to our community’s dedication to inclusivity. Thank you to all partners, local clubs, and participants for making this week so memorable.”
Ray Mc Namara, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer, added: “The enthusiastic participation and commitment to inclusivity shown by local clubs have been truly inspiring. We deeply appreciate everyone who supported and took part in this initiative.”
