Project Description
Mayo County Council in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is progressing the development of the N26 between Foxford and Mount Falcon. The proposed project is located immediately south of the previous improvement of the N26 within the townland of Drumrevagh at Mount Falcon and extends southwards to the town of Foxford. The scheme will seek to address the deficiencies of the existing N26 road in terms of horizontal/vertical road alignment, cross section width, forward visibility and stopping sight distance at junctions in line with current design standards and road safety.
Current Project Phase
The project is currently at beginning stages of Phase 2 of TII Project Management Guidelines.
RPS Consulting Engineers have been appointed by Mayo County Council to assist in the progression of the scheme through Phases 2 to 4.
Phase 2 involves the identification of the Study Area and Constraints, and assessment of various Alternatives/Options to identify a Preferred Option.
Study Area, Constraints/Opportunities
The Study area encompasses an area from Foxford to Mount Falcon. A total distance of circa 8km is under review.
The Constraints Study entails the identification of the physical / artificial / engineering / natural elements within the study area in which it is expected that options will be developed for assessment and appraisal.
Public Consultation Event No.1
Mayo County Council is holding a Virtual Public Consultation Event on the Study area and Identified Constraints from 13th November to 27th November 2024.
The proposed Study Area and Identified Constraints for the N26 Foxford to Mount Falcon Project will be available on the virtual public consultation website. Mayo County Council invite all interested parties to participate in this non-statutory public consultation.
The purpose of the public consultation is to bring information to the public on the project and to invite feedback on the current study area, the constraints identified and any other opportunities that the project team should consider.
Your participation in this consultation is important and we would value any feedback which you think should be reviewed by the project team to help inform the development of the project.
