Emergency repairs completed and water returned to 300 properties in Castlebar - Irish Water
Date: 18-03-2021
Irish Water, working in partnership with Mayo County Council, has completed emergency repairs to a burst watermain which caused water supply interruptions for customers in Fortlands, Cherrington Place, Fairways and the Windsor area of Castlebar last night and today.
Following the completion of this repair a second burst is causing an outage for customers in Springfield Court. Approximately 120 houses are affected. The repair crew are currently on site and carrying out emergency works to fix the pipe. It is expected that the burst repair will be completed this evening and water restored to all customers.
Ger Greally, Irish Water’s Asset Operations Lead is conscious how impactful these unplanned events can be on customers: “Irish Water and our Local Authority partners Mayo County Council would like to thank the residents and businesses who were out of water and inconvenienced as a result of the burst watermain for their patience while emergency repairs were underway. We would also like to assure customers in the Springfield Court area that the burst affecting their supply is currently being attended to.
“Irish Water would also like to thank the repair crews who carried out these emergency works in difficult conditions to return water to customers as quickly and as safely as possible.”
