Irish Water and Mayo County Council advise that night-time restrictions are required in Foxford tonight in order to safeguard the water supply for daytime use
Date: 05-01-2021
Irish Water and Mayo County Council wish to advise customers in Foxford and surrounding areas in Mayo that essential overnight water restrictions are required to allow reservoirs to re-fill following a number of watermain bursts in the town which crews are working to repair as quickly and as safely as possible.
The water restrictions will be in place tonight, Tuesday 5 January from 10pm until 7am tomorrow morning.
These restrictions are necessary to allow reservoirs to refill so that daytime water supply can be maintained. We are asking customers in Foxford and surrounding areas to be mindful of how they use water, however it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand washing.
While handwashing remains a priority, simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply. There are tips on how to conserve water in your home on our website at https://www.water.ie/conservation/
Irish Water continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
Irish Water and Mayo County Council would like to thank customers for their patience as work continues to ensure that the water supply is safeguarded.
