Mayo County Council - COVID-19 Update - March 18th, 2020

In our ongoing response to COVID-19, and following the Government directive and guidance from the HSE, Mayo County Council has taken a number of actions over recent days which affect delivery of some of our services. These measures have included the closure of our Library Network, the closure of Museums, Art Centres and Leisure Centres.

While our day-to-day services remain largely unaffected at this time, we are encouraging the public, where possible, to do business with us over the phone or online www.mayo.ie.

In the interest of public safety and adhering to HSE social-distancing guidelines we ask people not to visit our public offices unless it is for essential business.

Should you need to visit in person, we are operating drop-boxes in Arás an Chontae and offices in Ballina, Claremorris, Westport and Belmullet. A similar service will operate in our Motor Tax office in Castlebar.

A supply of envelopes for documents and forms will be available, and a member of staff will be on-hand to assist. All application forms submitted through the drop box system will be acknowledged and dealt with expeditiously.

In line with Government guidelines, we are enabling as many of our Staff as feasible to work from home while ensuring a core presence in all public offices.

CE at Mayo County Council, Peter Hynes outlined, “In these unprecedented times, I would like to assure you that Mayo County Council will do our utmost to safeguard public health and safety while continuing to provide essential services and support to our communities. We will continue to work with the HSE, Gardai and other agencies in supporting and assisting their efforts in these difficult times”
