Mayo County Council - COVID-19 Update - March 19th, 2020

Date: 19-03-2020

Mayo County Council continues to be open for business, running all services, with all departments working as usual, albeit in very unusual circumstances. Our road crews have been gritting roads this week ensuring the safety of the public as they travel each morning.  Our water services staff continue to do their work to ensure households across the county are assured of water.

Following our adherence to the HSE advice our libraries, museums, cultural centres and leisure centres continue to be closed to the public, but our work continues behind closed doors.

Citizens can log-onto https://www.mayo.ie/library where their online library services can be availed of including the facility of downloading ebooks and audiobooks directly to devices and the option of reading regional newspapers and the Irish Independent can also be availed of, along with a broad selection of international magazines and titles for children.

The team at Lough Lannagh Leisure Complex have daily 30-minute workouts available for free on their Facebook Page, with some suitable for children and adults alike.

In our adherence to the HSE social-distancing guidelines we ask people not to visit our public offices unless it is for essential business, but our doors are open and we have new ways in place so as to conduct our business with you in the safest manner possible.

We continue to operate drop-boxes for forms and documents in the ArĂ¡s an Chontae reception and area offices.

Should you want to know of any volunteering efforts that are taking place in local communities across the county we are amplifying those efforts on our @Mayodotie and @Mayococo social media accounts and on www.mayo.ie. Please log-on to find out how our communities are stepping up and helping the most vulnerable in our society at this difficult time.

We will  keep the public updated with any disruption to our services through local media and the our media channels
