N5 Westport to Turlough Road - Upcoming Works - Update

Due to the current inclement weather, the works scheduled to begin this evening, Monday July 31st, have been postponed and as such the road closure will not be in effect this evening. Further information regarding when the works will begin will be made available once a date/time has been confirmed.

Essential works on the N5 Dual Carriageway, primarily involving landscape maintenance of the verges of the dual carriageway, are programmed to commence on Monday evening, 31st July 2023, after 7pm. The works are scheduled to be completed over five nights from this date and the closures will be from 7pm to 6am each night.

Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) are in place informing members of the public in advance of the works and further information will be shared by Mayo County Council Social Media and Mid West Radio.

Alternative Routes:

  • Westbound vehicles travelling on the N5 will diverted on to the R309 (Old N5).
  • Eastbound vehicles travelling on the N5 will diverted on to the R309 (Old N5).
  • Vehicles travelling on the N60/R308 (Breaffy Road) will diverted on to the R309 (Old N5).
  • Vehicles travelling on the N84/R307 (Ballinrobe Road) will diverted on to the R309 (Old N5).
