The current Freedom of Information legislation was enacted and applied to local authorities, including Mayo County Council, in October 2014. The legislation gives you the following legal rights:
- The right to access official records held by Mayo County Council as defined by the Act
- The right to have personal information held by Mayo County Council about you corrected or updated where such information is incomplete, incorrect or misleading
- The right to be given reasons for decisions taken by Mayo County Council that affect you
While a Freedom of Information request is free of charge, fees for search, retrieval, and copying may apply.
