Mayo County Council Collection

Mayo County Council has been collecting art for many years and has now acquired a substantial collection of almost 200 works.

The collection includes paintings, prints, photography, sculpture and mixed-media works, by artists from or living in Mayo, or those who have exhibited in the county. Highlights from the Mayo County Council Collection can be viewed in the video below. Works are displayed on a permanent basis in publicly accessible venues and in county council buildings around the county.

A selection of artworks from the collection are available for temporary exhibitions and there is also a Schools Exhibition programme.

The County Council adds to its collection with new acquisitions when the budget is available. Mayo County Council does not accept unsolicited approaches for works to be acquired or for gifts to be made to County Collection.
