Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Finland
Partner profile – Oulu University of Applied Sciences
Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk) is one of the biggest universities of applied sciences in Finland. It is located in Northern Finland, next to the Baltic Sea. Oamk has a lot of experience in working for the vitality and well-being of the peripheral North. As an applied university, we work in close cooperation with our partner institutions, business life, municipalities, and the voluntary sector (i.e., various associations). We favour down to earth approach in education, and in research, development, and innovation work. As an organization, we are committed to systematically enhancing sustainable development in all our actions.
COAST interests us a great deal. At Oamk, the School of Engineering and Natural Resources is particularly focused on enhancing sustainable rural development and agriculture in Northern areas. Such location is found in the municipality of Hailuoto, which is one of the demo sites in the COAST project. For the project, we bring our expertise gained in various multidisciplinary national and international SD-related projects, where the participatory approach has guaranteed success.
