Mayo Day 2025 – Many Places Many People

Tony Hennigan from the Mayo Manchester Tourism and Business group commented “We are delighted to be hosting the concert in this venue. Manchester is home to one of the biggest Mayo diaspora communities in the UK and the venue has already hosted a number of Mayo events. We even hosted Mayo GAA stars Paddy Durcan and Diarmuid O'Connor when they were over for a Manchester United match. We can’t wait to hear Joe and his band belting out the Green and Red of Mayo. It promises to be a great night to celebrate Mayo.

Mayo Day 2025 could be a truly global event by having a unique cultural and sporting day in Hanoi, Vietnam.

‘Mayo4Nam’ is designed to celebrate the heritage of County Mayo while engaging local and international communities in Gaelic games and Irish culture. The event will incorporate traditional Irish live music and face painting where the mayo flag of green and red will be painted on players faces.

The day will feature a youth Gaelic football tournament, with youth teams from the Viet Celts competing in friendly matches designed to showcase their skills and teamwork. These matches are an opportunity not only to celebrate the global reach of the GAA but also to provide young players with a meaningful cultural connection to Ireland. Players will wear the green and red of Mayo to celebrate Mayo’s unique contribution to GAA over decades.

To highlight the spirit of Mayo Day, the event will also include a visual exhibition of images from County Mayo, offering attendees a glimpse into the landscapes, traditions, and people of the county. This cultural display will be open to all visitors, including parents, educators, and members of the wider Hanoi community, fostering a greater appreciation of Irish heritage abroad.

The event will be open to the public and will serve as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and youth development.
