Mayo Day at North Mayo Heritage Centre

Demonstration of traditional and sustainable crafts by local artists, using locally produced and responsibly sourced materials.

The Heritage crafts which will be demonstrated include Wood-working, Jewellery-making, Wool Spinning and Candle-making:

Wood-working: Steve Ridd from Northern Wood Monkey will demonstrate the use of a pole-lathe to carve wood. Including interactive elements allowing patrons to directly experience using the lathe. 

Jewellery-making: Tracey from Hazelrocks Jewellery will demonstrate the art of jewellery making using wire and crystals to create a pendant design

Wool spinning: Anne Gambrill from Killala Woolcraft will demonstrate spinning with a hand-wheel and natural wool. This demonstration will allow patrons to try out the spinning wheel

Candle-making: Eva from Q&A Candles will demonstrate how to create handmade scented candles using eco-friendly soy wax and aromatherapy oils
