Big Day on The Mall
The Big Day on the Mall is a youth music festival being produced by Music Generation Mayo celebrating youth music making within the County of Mayo.
Showcasing approximately 150 young musicians on the main stage representing the extraordinarily diverse musical and cultural landscape of County Mayo. It will be a festival style event incorporating 12 different performances on the large stage, and include a marquee with an open mic event, traditional Irish session, instrument making and instrument trials from the MGM music bank, food stands, samba bands, and other festival style events.
The Big Day on the Mall will form the centrepiece for a weekend of Mayo Day celebrations in conjunction with Mayo Pink Ribbon Day and Mayo Mini Marathon.
It will be a stunning celebration of youth music in Mayo, their passion for different genres of music and the future of music in Mayo through its talented and engaged youth music community
Performing groups include:
Batafada Samba Band, Mayo Youth Orchestra, Rolling Waves, CCÉ Bofield, CCÉ Admiral Brown, Youth Rock Bands, Music Generation Mayo Harp Ensemble. Mayo Children's Chorus, Mayo Uilleann Pipe ensemble, a massive Ukelele Jam and much more.
The Big Day On The Mall represents numerous partnerships, all cross-promoting the event nationally and internationally. Local partners include Foroige, Count Me In, Mayo County Council, Mayo County Library Service, MSLETB, CYPSC, The Connacht Tribune, local Comhaltas groups, Music West and community music groups.
