Disability Sport
Mayo Sports Partnership launched its Sports Inclusion Disability Project in April 2008. The partnership has a Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) to oversee the management of the project aim to increase participation of people with disabilities in sport, fitness and physical activity throughout the county.
This is achieved through working in partnership with statutory agencies, sports clubs, community groups, facility providers, schools, disability service providers and people with disabilities.
A key outcome of the project involves the provision of sports programming for people with disabilities in a variety of settings. These include the participation of people with disabilities in sport and physical activity through targeted activities such as Boccia, Wheelchair Hurling, Learn to Cycle, etc.

CARA APA
CARA is a national pan-disability sport organisation providing a collaborative and partnership platform to increase sport and physical activity opportunities for people with disabilities across Ireland.
Launched in January 2019, our strategy provides a route map to guide and focus our work until 2022. It outlines a clear commitment to work in collaboration with national and local partners to make active lives possible for people with disabilities while ensuring the voice and needs of people with disabilities is placed at the forefront of all our decisions and actions.
Through the implementation of this strategy, we will continue to work with our partners, founders and stakeholders to enhance opportunities available to people with disabilities to experience the joy and benefits of participating in sport and physical activity throughout Ireland.
