Mayo Day 2022 - Home to where the heart is
Returning for the eighth year on its dedicated day, on the Saturday of the May bank holiday weekend, the theme of Mayo Day 2022 was Home to where the Heart is, which formed the opening of 'Home to Mayo' - a month-long series of events that took place in locations right around the county.
The event offered those with a connection to Mayo the opportunity to make the trip home and celebrate all things Mayo.
Over 23 Events took place over the month including; The Patrick Cassidy Summer School in Claremorris, The Newport 300 celebrations, Mayo Genealogy week, The Mayo Manchester Home to Mayo Tradfest, The Transatlantic Cultural weekend and the grand finale - Home to Mayo: A Transatlantic Journey Home.
The success of Home to Mayo saw more than 35,000 visitors to the county during the month of the event with over 7,700 of those coming from overseas from locations such as the UK, New York, Chicago and the UAE
